Topics I've Started

  1. Bayesian Statistics

    14 January 2013 - 11:02 AM

Hi! Can somebody suggest me a similar reading on bayesian staistics?
  2. Combine Poisson Variables, Page 313

    11 January 2013 - 10:40 AM

    Hi,

Can somebody explain why when we combine two independent random variables we have P(X+Y)=P(X)+P(Y) (see page 313)

It should be P(X+Y)=P(X)*P(Y) because if we use summation in the case where P(X)=P(Y)=1 the summation yields 2, which is not a valid value of probability.
  3. What To Read After Hfda?

    07 December 2012 - 11:35 AM

Hi, I liked the HFDA book a lot! Now I need a read to improve/deepen my understanding of the learned concepts.

I know about HF Statistics, but I would like first to invest more time into understanding of a broader field of data analysis. For example I would like to better understand the practical aspects of such activities as wrangling, profiling, modelling, prediction, hypothesis testing, and visualization. I also would like to find a more detailed description of randomized controlled experiments, heuristics, and causal diagrams/networks in data analysis.

Could somebody suggest me the next book or books to read?
