First of all, thanks a lot for that excellent book and for your sense of humour.

My issue: video doesn't run on IE 9 and Safari 5.

I am having the exact same issue with IE 9. I haven't tried it with Safari, but I imagine it would probably not work there for me either.

Does anyone have any idea why?

Try changing the ordering of the src elements in the video element. Sometimes that can affect which version of the video the browser attempts to load.

Also, make sure that the video files are located in the right place!

Finally, try opening the JavaScript console in your browser and seeing if you have any error messages that could help diagnose why it's not working.
