Why Are Different Definitions Of P On Binomial Model? The definitions between p on page 454 and on297 are different

On page 297, p is the probability of a successful outcome in each trial, but on page 454 p is the proportion of successes.
Then these are the same meaning from the other views, that is "the probability of a successful outcome in each trail" same
as "the proportion of successes".

I need more explanation why are the same these definitions. Please let me get the clear explanation.
