They are both good, both of them have some pros and cons, depending on what you need. But Joomla is more dificult for a beginner.

Joomla is excellent for its feathers and it is the world’ s most popular open source CMS (content management system). With millions of websites running on Joomla the WordPress!

I think both work, however I got lots of downtime encountered when I used joomla while on wordpress it's really hard to apply some codes on it since some aren't compatible. How about Drupal? Our outsourcing website is Drupal CMS, and it works super OK.

I have used Joomla years ago when i was building travel guides. As a content management system is good but it is more difficult to use than Wordpress for a beginner. Extending it is very easy as there are hundreds of components and modules. One of the things i was not happy was that all the sites were slow and that if I wanted to do some customisation then i always had to work many hours to find out how it is done or hire a developer to do it for me.

Wordpress easier to use for a beginner. It is also a lot easier to customise. With the time you can also do things your self. Again, everything depends on you needs, skills and future plans.

I love WordPress, because its flexibility, there are thousands of plugin to extend its functionality and works faster than Joomla.

I use both wordpress and Joomla and find Joomla good for the complicated stuff but less forgiving and wordpress easy as pie but not as customisable. So big stuff that needs loads of customisation use Joomla, and for building neat little sites use Wordpress. I used Wordpress to build my site http://www.bohaglass.co.uk but used Joomla to build this site as it was far bigger and more complicated http://www.exclusivegp.com

If you want a website with the best SEO, use WordPress, but also nice if you use Joomla for a powerful web interface.

I prefer WordPress rather than Joomla. Frankly speaking, I don`t even know how to create website from the very scratch. I like to use website templates ( http://www.templatem...ress-themes.php ). I have 3 websites built upon those templates, 2 of them are very effective.
