In Digital Media Insider podcast #28, "The Mind of the Maker," the Fat Man and I hit on the idea of creating a forum where everyone can share original sound effects and the creative stories behind them. Some of his best sounds came from his "great big kitty litter bucket of Casio parts," so that seemed as good a title as any for this project.

To keep things focused, the site will cap uploads at 1MB. That corresponds to about one minute of stereo MP3 or AAC — plenty for a sound effect.

We're working on implementing an embedded audio player here, but for now, the files will open in a new window.

IMPORTANT: To foster sharing, all audio files posted in this thread will be considered public domain unless otherwise stated in the individual entry.

To begin, here's the recording I described in the podcast: a water-filled Gertie Ball. I processed the file with two passes of noise reduction in Izotope RX to tame the voice recorder's excessive hiss. I think the whispery artifacts are kinda cool, though.
