Hi,

I have just finished Head first Web design, and I'm just thinking abiut the last chapter...

When we did the exercise to estimate all the times for making the website for Trilobite Labs (page 423), i seriously underestimated the times...

In general, I got times about 9 times smaller than the exercise solution. I was shocked, does it really take that long to make a site (over 120 hours)?? I would have thought that it would take a lot less. You see the thing is im thinking about making a asmall web design business but im 13 and i dont really have that much time on my hands becuase of school...

thank you... smile.gif

Well, it all depends on the complexity of the website design, the clients themselves and the clients needs. If it is a simple "brochure" site, it can be done in a matter of weeks with the clients being an easy client. If you have more of a difficult client, it will be longer AND if you only have one project at a time. This is not even taking into consideration that you may need to incorporate internet marketing architecture into your site. I know that is a long drawn out answer but it really does vary.

Maybe instead of a web design business, you could try uploading your files to one of the many sites where you can sell the same files to many different people for a small sum of money. One such site is http://themeforest.net . ThemeForest requires you to be 18 or older(but I am sure that if your parents manage your account, it will be fine), and ThemeForest very strict about which files are qualified to be uploaded, so you will have to spend a lot of time on your sites. I, like you, am 13, and am working on a site to upload to ThemeForest! I hope this helped, and all the best!

Well, It’s quite hard to mention a time period. Because it totally depend on your talent. Just take time slowly and finish it properly. Because it’s easy if you can add all the necessary tools to your site rather than adding here and there later. I have shared a good article for you to read.

It also depends upon CMS of the website and Prestashop themes can be a good option!

Well, it depends on the client, like how many features they want to include in the website and accordingly the time is decided. It also depends on the tools that are used in making the website, i.e, if the CMS such as word press etc are used then it can subsequently reduce the time too.
