Hi,

I think they are referring to Critical Chain method or Resource Levelling here.

Definition of “Resource constrained schedule” - The network schedule is allowed to change, based on the availability of identified resources.

When the project management team and or the project management team leader proceed to plan out the projects schedule and where each individual component of the project will lie along the project life cycle, there are often a number of factors that may play into exactly how the scheduling is going to play out. However, nearly all of the factors trace back to one common thread, and that commonality is the lack or abundance of resources. This is where the concept of the resource-limited schedule comes in. The resource-limited schedule is a project schedule whose schedule activities start dates, and finish dates directly reflect the availability of all resources in question. Typically, a resource-limited schedule will not have any start dates that are early or late. The concept of the resource-limited schedule can also be referred to in other settings as the resource-constrained schedule.

Hope this helps -

As far as i think 'Resource Constrained Schedule' means a resource is booked on a Project in a particular time slot and if one have to book it for another project he have to book the resource outside that schedule in-order not to overload that resource. I have been facing the problem that many of my resource gets overloaded due to manual scheduling then i came to know about this resource scheduling software 'eResource Scheduler' by Enbraun. This software has one revolutionary feature of a booking chart where you can see when & where a particular resource is booked and for how much time, if you overload a resource then the system warns you for it. Additionally the software has a varied set of feature like time-sheets, drag & drop functionality, etc which would efficiently schedule & plan all your resource. I think they provide a free 14 day trial as well.
