Hello,
I have a problem with the exercise "Sharpen your pencil" at pag.495.

Point d says:"Use the fact that frictional.... to arrive at an equation that only involves the components of FFric, the mass, the coefficient and the gravitational field strength".

But in the answer I see : u(mg - Frv) = Frh

Is this correct ?
I'm not English mothertounge, so maybe this is the reason.. wink.gif
But I don't really get it: I see only components of Frope and NOT compenents of Ffric.

Thanks
Alessandro

You're absolutely right - the question should ask for components of the force applied by the rope, Fr , not Ffric.

Sorry about the mistake - unfortunately this one slipped through technical review. Thanks for checking, and I have submitted it as an error so that it will be corrected in future reprints.

I haven't understood the concept of friction exercise. Could anyone make me understand in the simpler form??
