When trying to transfer my 'mydroidtest.py' script to the android emulator I get the following error.

failed to copy 'mydroidtest.py' to '\sdcard\sl4a\scripts': Read only file system.

I have not changed any files to read only. I noticed that the sdk is a little different from when this book was made. The 'adb' is not in 'tools' it is in 'platform-tools'.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Can you tell us what platform you are running on: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X?

Hi Tim.

Put your slashes this way, /, not like this: \.

So it should be '/sdcard/scripts/sl4a' - Android is a Linux system, so it uses the slash in the non-Windows way.

Try that.

Worked like a charm. Now I feel stupid for just assuming that since i was on windows that the slashes should be windows style lol.

Thx Paul

Ps. Loving the book. I hate reading but I had fun with Head First Programming and still having fun with Head First Python. Oh and btw do you have to have a Mac to develop for the iPhone?

Yes, to write "real" programs for the iPhone, you need a Mac. However, this book shows you how to get some of the way towards doing useful development on the iPhone/iPad platform using just HTML/CSS/JavaScript... it's on my reading list: http://oreilly.com/c.../9780596805791/.

Have fun. :-)
