Hi just started the Head Rush Ajax book and I love the way it walks you through the process. One problem however is that I have finished the first chapter but the page code doesnt do what the book says it should do, which is when the button is clicked, the numbers will update only once.

When I do click the button, I get an error saying responseText is undefined. When I debug in firebug, then I get the full error message saying:

CODE
getresponseText
    "<br /> <b>Warning</b>: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in <b>Unknown</b> on line <b>0</b><br /> <br /> <b>Fatal error</b>: Unknown: Failed opening required 'C:/wamp/www/headRushAjax/getUpdatedBoardSales-ajax.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in <b>Unknown</b> on line <b>0</b><br /> "

I get the same error when I run the completed file as well! I am running these from the root of my wamp server, so there shouldn't be an issue there.

This forum doesn't seem very active, but I'm really hoping someone can help me and tell me whats going on. I dont want to go on to the next chapter until I figure out whats going on, so I guess I am at a stand still for now.

Thanks for any help in advance!

ok well yes I guess this forum isnt very active at all. lol Dont know why, but I figured out I can run the book exercises from my remote server, but not locally. I kept getting a permission denied even with the completed files, so I know it wasnt an error in my code.

Would still like a reason or answer as to why I cant run these pages locally, but at least now I can continue on with the rest of the book.

If anyone's still interested, I have PHP and MySQL versions for Ch 1 working with OSX SL. Just put your directory in HD/Library/Webserver/Documents. If PHP is set up properly (have links), the nonSQL version works as-is.
