Let's find out where most of the editing work is being done. Is Photoshop still as relevant to you as ever?

Because most of my images end up on the Web, I use Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Fireworks, which seems to compress data better — images that look the same consume fewer kilobytes when JPEGed with Fireworks. I've found Photoshop does better at shrinking image *dimensions,* though, paricularly with the Bicubic Sharper setting.

For quick photo editing (i.e. finding the one shot I need RIGHT NOW), I use Bridge to scan the memory card before I even download files. For image editing, Lightroom Develop module usually has the tools I need. I'll use Photoshop for sizing and sharpening issues when appropriate.

I spend all my time in Lightroom. Load all my photos in at once and use it to organize and edit. I then export to my Desktop to be uploaded to Flickr. I don't have much use for Photoshop since I only need to make small corrections to dust spots, color balance and exposure. I'm sure once I get more in to HDRI and get a better camera to use for Auto Bracketing, that I'd have more reason to use Photoshop.

Hi, I was expecting more people editing with aperture 2.01 now that it has improved in speed and quality. I am not well experienced enough with editing yet but through this forum and thanks to the O'Reilly tremendous comments I hope to improve. I found Photoshop very hard to use and so far mostly use Aperture 2.01 for basic adjustments.

Welcome Freddy. The forums are really just starting to pick up speed, so I'm sure you'll be seeing more Aperture users posting here.

I love Aperture and I cannot wait for the Viveza plug-in.

These days the bulk of my work is done in Lightroom with only selects needing significant retouching going to Photoshop.

I haven't tried Aperture yet but now that v2 has resolved the issues with Leopard and the D300 NEFs I'll probably check it out.

My end result is often gallery prints so I use CS3 exclusively for that. For editorial and web work I may go directly from Aperture. I use a lot of specialized software to handle certain problems like the blooming effect around the sun in underwater wide angle photos. (All of my work is underwater.) Layers is extremely important to me.
