For some reason Adobe DNG converter does not recognize my CR2 (RAW) pictures on my Canon XSi. The 4.1 version supposedly recognizes XSi pictures. I have not found a way to convert my RAW pictures to DNG. Can anyone help?

Thanks

4.1 isn't new enough - you need the 4.4.1 version that only came out a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry, I have the 4.4.1 version. Do I need a card reader. I cannot get the camera to show up as a drive on the desktop?

As far as I'm aware DNG convertor has nothing to do with downloading images. Have you tried swapping the PC connection type on the camera?

The converter doesn't mount drives or cameras, so you'll need to get this addressed in another way. If you connecting the camera via a USB connection to copy files I strongly recommend using a card reader - easier, usually faster, and doesn't drain the camera batteries.

On the converter not reading your files, there are 2 downloads available at the Adobe site. One has just the Adobe Camera Raw file, the other has both ACR and DNG.

Thanks Jon. I've ordered a card reader so I can get it mounted. I'm pretty sure once it's mounted DNG converter should be able to recognize it.

I have finally been able to convert my CR2 images taken with my new Canon XSi into DNGs. I had to drag the images into the Adobe DNG icon however in order for Adobe DNG to recognize my files and convert. It worked beautifully however, and I am very pleased. I can now use this process until Aperture supports the Canon XSi/450 D
