I normally scan my 6cm x 6cm B/W images using a Nikon Coolscan 9000 scanner and process the 16 bit TIFF output from the scanner using Adobe CS. I have recently upgraded to CS3 and can download 8 bit TIFFs using Adobe Camera Raw but cannot download 16bit TIFFs in ACR (The Open In Camera Raw tab is grayed out). The files can be opened in CS3 ok. I suspect that this is a limitation of ACR but have not seen it specifically mentioned in the documentation. Clarification would be appreciated.

Hi Niall -

You should be able to open 16bit TIFFs in ACR just fine. I just tried it with a couple of images to verify and it works as expected. My workflow to do this is:
Choose File > Open
Select the file
Choose Camera Raw as the file type

If that isn't working for you, knowing how the image was saved might help - did you use compression or any other settings when saving the initial file?
