There was an interesting session at RailsConf this week that's up on O'Reilly's YouTube account. A panel of three women who are Rails developers discussed their experience as women working in Rails and as students interested in science and technology.

RailsConf 09: Desi McAdam, Sarah Mei, Lori Olson, "Women in Rails"

Some interesting topics they cover:

Self-promotion and visibility, "Call yourself a developer"
Childcare/Maternity leave issues (including providing childcare at UG meetings)
Barrier to entry in college CS programs

What do you think? Do you agree with what these women are saying? A lot of this resonates for me, and some of it is surprising.
