Hello,
I am an aspiring developer in the Mac OS X environment. I was wondering if there were any place on the Web, or forum, for women getting into Mac programming. Attempts to start a programming group at my local Mac User Group Failed miserably. I also searched on Google and couldn't find a thing. Anyone who who is into Mac know of any such groups? |

Hello Victoria,
Good question! I would suggest getting involved in the Systers organization. Not sure if you've heard of them? They are a group of computer scientists, web developers, women geeks committed to women in technology causes! You might ask them once you join. http://anitaborg.org/initiatives/systers julie Hello, I am an aspiring developer in the Mac OS X environment. I know that I am a bit late but I wanted to jump in here and add my thoughts real quick on the subject. Personally, I would love to see a specific group for us female developers in general, but Macs would be pretty cool as well.
I would strongly encourage anyone trying to do this to generalize the group a bit more to female developers rather than just female mac developers as there are a lot more women getting involved with these higher tech jobs now days. I think it would be lots of fun! btw, I hadn't heard of the Systers org. but will be looking into that today, sounds great. -------------------- |

I would suggest doing a google search for the following terms... "open source women" "women programmers open source", etc...
Btw...just would like to say glad to run across a bunch of educated women on here. You gals are the links to us progressing in the programming world! -------------------- |

Lets get together and enjoy some Fat Daddys Burgers and discuss what we want from the group and how to get there. Everyone is welcome, but I especially want any who are willing to help out to be there. I would like to find 4 or 5 people to be assistants to ensure that the group will not go idle if someone gets overloaded in the future.
Just think about what you want to get from the group and come prepared to talk about it. Mostly come to have fun, discuss Mac development and come hungry! Make sure you answer our poll question even if you can't attend. Bouquet Sauvage -------------------- |
