Composer and author Peter Alexander has written a thought-provoking article on the music business that he is kindly sharing. It raises issues we should all be concerned with regardless of whether you are a developer or a consumer.
NAMM 2009 What do you think about the questions he raises? Where is the music business headed? Will the fallout from the economic decline be devastating to the music industry or are we seeing paradigm shifts (such as online tutorials vs music store lessons, amazon vs retail store, etc.)? What long-term effects will shifts from hardware sales to virtual software have on the industry? If the only hardware left to manufacture is a MIDI keyboard controller, who will bother making it? What happens to music stores as more and more software manufacurers sell direct? I'm curious to hear your thoughts. -------------------- Gregory D. Moore
